Welcome to the Reef Rescue School
In the turquoise waters of Puerto Morelos, Mexico, a new generation of ocean guardians is rising. The Reef Rescue School, a UNESCO-certified Blue School and award-winning marine education program, was created to inspire, educate, and empower those who dream of protecting the sea.
Here, learning doesn’t happen in a classroom—it happens in the ocean. In partnership with the Puerto Morelos National Park and the Federación Mexicana de Actividades Subacuáticas A.C., our students dive into the living classroom of the reef, learning the science and skills needed to restore and defend it. Together, we combine marine research, conservation action, and technical training, creating a pathway from curiosity to real-world impact.
Our mission is rooted in a simple but powerful belief: the future of the reef depends on the people who call it home. That’s why we train and support youth from local communities, equipping them with the knowledge, confidence, and opportunities to lead conservation in their own waters.
At the same time, we welcome ocean advocates from around Mexico and the world—divers, students, travelers, and dreamers—who want to give back to the sea.
Every dive, every coral survey, every act of care ripples outward. At Reef Rescue School, passion becomes purpose, and purpose becomes lasting change for our ocean’s future.
OUR VISION
We envision a future where every school in our community has access to marine education, ensuring that all young people—regardless of background—can connect with and protect the ocean. Through The Reef Rescue School, we are building a movement of empowered youth who not only understand the critical role of coral reefs and marine life but also feel confident using their voices to advocate for the ocean’s future.
To amplify our impact, we are also committed to training local teachers, equipping them with the knowledge, resources, and hands-on experience to integrate marine conservation into their classrooms.
Our dream is to see the next generation rise as passionate guardians of the sea, leading efforts to restore and protect the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef. By fostering curiosity, resilience, and action, we are shaping a future where marine ecosystems and local communities thrive together.
